The UofL Alumni
Club of Southern California . . .
. . . has a Board of Directors .
. . a steering committee, if you will. We take care of the
administrative chores of the club, as well as plan events. We hope you
will consider being active in the club, and perhaps joining the board
yourself.
For us to be a
truly viable club, we need to hear from you! What sorts of events
would you like to have? (Be careful, there's a catch! You may be
called upon to help plan and organize the event!)

Tom Mayes |
President
Emeritus (Club President
2000-2003)
I graduated from
UofL in 1962 with a BA in Chemistry,
although I did put in a lot of time at the bridge tables in the old
“SUB”. I then spent a tour of duty in the U. S. Air Force as a
launch officer on the Titan II ICBM at Vandenburg AFB in
California. The weather appealed to me a lot so I stayed.
Eventually I earned an MBA degree from California State University,
Long Beach & a Ph.D. from University of California, Irvine. I
returned eastward to spend a few years as an Assistant Professor of
Organizational Behavior at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. I
met my wife, Mary Barton, there & we returned to California where I
am now a Professor of Management at California State University,
Fullerton. Mary & I have a blended family with her two sons and my
daughter from previous marriages. The “kids” are now all in their
30’s and doing well. When I am not rolling back the tides of
ignorance at the university, I like to play tennis and
sail around
the Southern California waters in my Ericson 35 sailboat.

Joseph
Willenbrink |
Past
President (Club President 2003-2013)
I began college while my high school
class was still in their senior year, but took my own sweet time
(about 10 years of it) earning my degree part-time at night while
working full time (BS Chemistry [A&S] 1985). After moving
West, I got my MBA (also while working full time) from UCLA's
prestigious Anderson School in 1991. Since then, I have gone
on to underachieve.

Cherri Chilton |
President
I graduated from UofL in 1999 with a
Bachelor of Science in Marketing while living in Louisville for over
10 years. I have spent the past 18 years of my career in the
aviation industry and currently work at an avionics company in
Irvine as a Program Manager in the In-Flight Entertainment division.
While Louisville is a fine town, I could no longer resist my desire
to bask in the California sun and moved to SoCal in 2006. As a way
of meeting new people, I decided to attend a UofL SoCal Alumni
event and found the group to be most welcoming. We have a lot of
fun, so come join us!!! Oh, and besides hanging at any of the many
wonderful beaches here, I also like to travel and still enjoy
Kentucky's fine bourbons.

Joan Leslie Caldwell |
Board Member
Emeritus and Founding Member
As Joan Leslie, I starred with Fred Astaire, Humphrey
Bogart, James Cagney, Gary Cooper, and Ronald Reagan in films during
the 40s and 50s. But after that, my leading man, Dr. William
Caldwell (MD ’43), introduced me to
UofL, and I have been a
proud adopted alumna ever since! I’m still interested in film and
keep busy with charity work, gardening, keeping track of my twin
daughters who are teachers, and exercising with Jeb Stuart, my
beagle!

Board Members
At Large
We have other Board
Members. They chair committees (Like Susan Richardson, who
co-orchestrates the best Derby Party anywhere, and Tammy Radan, who hosts
it) participate, work
hard, plan events and come to the meetings (Hey! somebody
has to come to the meetings!) The club would not be what it
is (or even be here at all, in some cases) without them. If you
have questions, you'll do well to find them for answers. They include, but are not limited to .
