Scholarships Available
We are
looking for bright, motivated Southern California students who, having their
choice of any school in the US, would rather go to
UofL
than anywhere else. If that’s the case, we can make it easier for them to
do it.
Our local
club has scholarship money available for students eager to attend a
nationally recognized research and teaching institution. Here is some
information you can share
with bright high school students interested in attending school at
Louisville.
-
University of Louisville offers
a guaranteed $10,000 annual
scholarship for out-or-state students who meet minimum requirements of a
26 ACT or 1170 SAT (CR + M) and a 3.35
GPA. (Students below minimums may be considered for
lesser awards.)
-
All of this is before we
consider the UofL Club of Socal Scholarship - see below!
You can see
from the table that this could drop per-semester tuition to under $7,500 before room,
board and books. Given Louisville’s high academic standards and low cost
of living, this is a DEAL. Please know that our scholarship is in no way
related to any NCAA anything! If you know of any NCAA athletes, please
go directly to the school office or contact me
and I’ll direct you there. (The NCAA requirements are a minefield, and you
could inadvertently commit a violation.)
Please note
that there are other out-of-state scholarships in limited numbers available
for exceptional students. If your ACT is over 31, you can find out
more about all of your scholarship options if you
go
here.
As you can
imagine, there is fine print. If you want to know more, please contact
Joseph Willenbrink (joseph@purewhitelight.com)
or Bob Hoertz (hoertzgr@hotmail.com),
and we’ll hook you up!
NOTE: The figures below are based on the direct
costs for the 2012-2013 academic year.

|
How to apply? |
Begin by
sending a letter to Scholarship Chairman Bob Hoertz. An email is
a good idea, but we strongly recommend a follow-up by US mail.
We can't be responsible for dropped emails, emails caught in the
spam-catcher, etc. Let Bob know what you like about
UofL,
why you'd like to go there, and why you deserve a scholarship.
Include a copy of your transcript (an unofficial copy is just fine!)
While you don't want to be a pain in the neck, it's a good idea to
follow up; which Bob will interpret as enthusiasm. (If you are
overdoing it, he'll let you know!)
